It’s been a rough April, folks. I’ve had a lot going on in my personal life, and while there’s so much I want to share about, I have not had the time nor energy to create a full newsletter this month. However, I do want to take a moment to highlight the many campus protests & encampments for Palestine that have been happening across the country, as well as the violent repression of them. Students and faculty at dozens of colleges and universities are demanding their institutions stop supporting Israel through actions like divesting from companies that are profitting off of the genocide. And as expected, they are being met with police violence and massive pushback from college administration.
Depending on where you live, there may be a college encampment you can support near you. In Wisconsin, both UW-Madison and UW-Milwaukee have both joined in creating encampments. The Badger Herald has been reporting on the UW-Madison encampment, and it appears they’ll continue to share updates as they have them. You can also follow Students for Justice in Palestine - UW Madison on Instagram to stay updated and see all calls for action from that campus. If you’re faculty, staff, alumni, a parent to a student, or a donor to UW-Madison, you can sign onto the Statement in Solidarity with Student Protest from the University of Wisconsin-Madison Community.
That’s all I’ve got for this month. Free Palestine, wear a mask (especially to protests!), and see you next month when I get back to the full newsletter!
